14.08.2024 Stage 3 – WAŁBRZYCH – DUSZNIKI-ZDRÓJ, COS – 156,5 km
The third stage of the 81st Tour de Pologne will take riders and fans on a journey through the climbs of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The peloton will touch most of the significant climbs in the region, and the entire stage will start at the Old Mine in Wałbrzych.
After less than 30 kilometers, riders will tackle the first PZU II category KOM – the famous Walim Pass. They will then compete for points at the LOTTO sprint bonus in Pieszyce, followed by more climbs. The fast-moving peloton will face the Jugowska Pass, Saint Anne Mountain, and the categorized climb in Karłów.
The peloton will pass through this climb twice, but only once will they compete for points in the PZU mountain classification. After the second climb and covering about 150 kilometers, the riders will enter Duszniki-Zdrój, where – like last year – they will race for victory on the demanding climb to COS Jamrozowa Polana.
In last year’s Tour de Pologne, we experienced many Polish emotions on this climb. The stage winner was Rafał Majka from UAE Team Emirates, and Michał Kwiatkowski, representing INEOS Grenadiers, took third place. We hope for a repeat and more Polish victories!
– “We are still in Lower Silesia – starting from Wałbrzych, followed by many tough climbs. The finish will be at Jamrozowa Polana in Duszniki-Zdrój, where last year Rafał Majka won ahead of Michał Kwiatkowski. Before that, the riders will have to tackle very difficult climbs, totaling over 3000 meters of elevation gain. Among others, Walim, Silver Mountain, and practically all the climbs in the area,” described Czesław Lang.
