Statement regarding the accident of Nicolas Debeaumarche
Cycling is a sport in which riders are exposed to various risks, regardless of the level of safety measures put in place along the route. This has always been, is and will continue to be, the case.
During the third stage of the Tour de Pologne, an accident occurred in which the French cyclist Nicolas Debeaumarche suffered the most significant injuries. The immediate assistance provided by the race’s medical services was of the highest standard. The swift response, along with the professionalism of the doctors at the Polanica-Zdrój hospital, where the rider was immediately taken after the accident, was emphasized by the doctor of the Cofidis team, for whom Debeaumarche rides.
The rider is experiencing spinal issues, but he is conscious, and his condition is stable. It is likely that he will be transported to Paris in the near future, where further treatment will be conducted.
“I have just returned from the hospital, where I spoke with the doctors who attended to Nicolas. I sincerely thank them all for their quick and professional help and care” said Czesław Lang, General Director of the Tour de Pologne.
