Points of interest
Kościuszko Park
This charming park is located in the center of Katowice. With its 72 hectares, it includes many varieties of trees, such as cherry and rhododendrons and its arrangement is influenced by English gardens-parks. While having a relaxed walk, the visitors can also enjoy the romantic flower arrangements on the flower-beds, the alley of roses, the pergolas and admire beautiful sculptures created by local artists.
Silesian Museum
Located on the premises of the former “Warszawa mine” – directly adjacent to the Katowice city center – this museum is a very special place where past and modernity coexist, a fascinating cultural centre where art, architecture, music and performances are bonded by the rich heritage of Slesia. Walking 14 meters above the ground level, the tourists can admire the Galleries about Polish Art with painting before and after 1945, the Gallery of Silesian Religious Art and various exhibitions about cinema and theatre scenography. The underground space also includes educational rooms, a library with a reading room, an auditorium and an educational corner for children. That’s not all: the observation platform – a classic example of industrial architecture – offers fascinating views of the city skyline.
