More than 13 tonnes – the most advanced security system in cycling in Tour de Pologne

For the fourth consecutive year, the Tour de Pologne will be secured with cutting-edge systems from the BOPLAN group. This is a huge logistical operation. As many as six trucks are required to transport this equipment from Belgium to Poland. All with the support of the Tour de Pologne’s official logistics partner, Drutex.

320 pieces of custom-made, cycling-designed fences and 10 pieces of BOPLAN warning totems. Total weight of the safety system that will travel to Poland equals 13,140 kg! Each element of the fence, set up at the finish of the stage, weighs 40 kg.

The yellow, shock-absorbing synthetic screens, nearly one and a half metres high, provide optimum protection for the riders during one of the most critical phases of the race – finish. The risk of serious injury is reduced as much as possible.

– In a sport bearing such speed and such risk as cycling, it is crucial to rely on companies that create state-of-the-art safety products. For us, BOPLAN is a synonym for professionalism in this field and together we can do a lot to ensure that cyclists have the right conditions to demonstrate their full potential – says Czesław Lang, General Director of the Tour de Pologne UCI World Tour. It is worth mentioning that BOPLAN is not only the official partner of the professional race, but also of the Tour de Pologne Junior.

BOPLAN is a Belgian brand, that specialises in the design and production of a wide range of security systems that go beyond existing solutions – in terms of reliability and safety, the materials used and environmental friendliness, as well as installation and maintenance technology.

blankThe BOPLAN Science Centre is located in Wolverhampton, this is where the most advanced and innovative solutions are developed. The BOPLAN SPORT line specialises in the security of sporting events. The safety of all event participants – athletes, spectators and organisers – is a priority in the design of these solutions.

Tour de Pologne is not only the most important cycling event in Poland, but also a space for cooperation – even between the race’s partners. In fact, there would be no implementation of BOPLAN solutions on the route, if not for the support of another family member of the Tour de Pologne – DRUTEX. Once again, our official logistics partner takes the load (literally) of transporting BOPLAN systems to Karpacz, and then to the finish line of the subsequent stages of the race .

The equipment will be picked up from Belgium on 7 August and two days later will arrive in Poland. It will return to the warehouses after two weeks.
