The Tour de Pologne returns to Poznan
The 80th edition of the Polish race is scheduled to start on 29 July from the capital of Wielkopolska Voivodeship
It is official: after 16 years, Poland’s biggest sporting event will return to Poznan. In 2023, the Tour de Pologne will indeed start from the Poznań International Fairgrounds, where the best riders of the professional teams will line up to tackle a new edition of the Polish stage race. The winner of the first stage will then be confirmed on the spectacular finish line at the end of the circuit around Poznan.
“I am happy to announce that the jubilee edition of the Tour de Pologne will start in Poznań! In 2023 we will celebrate the 95th birthday of the race and the 80th edition. A beautiful stage will start and finish in Poznań, during which we will ride through the Voivodeship of Wielkopolska. This is a region full of hidden treasures and interesting history. I am sure it will be a great cycling spectacle!” announced the general director of the race, Czeslaw Lang.
Poznan, which was included in the race route during the first edition of the race in 1928, has been missing for many years now. In fact, 2007 was the last year it was held here, and it was won by Italian Danilo Napolitano.
Unlike last year’s edition, which was won by Briton Ethan Hayter (INEOS Grenadiers), the Tour de Pologne UCI World Tour will be held in a different area of Poland. Planned dates: 29.07. to 4.08. 2023.
