Sulkowski Dukes’ Castle
The Castle, built in the 14th century by the Cieszyn Piast dynasty, overlooking the city of Bielsko-Biała. Legend has it that in the place where it now stands, there used to be a settlement of bandits attacking merchants who were travelling nearby. Casimir, Duke of Opoleis captured that fortress, building there a hunting lodge which later was developed into a great castle.
Today the Historical Museum in Bielsko-Biała has its main base here and amongst its exhibitions features displays on the archaeology and history and the folk culture of the city and its surrounding areas.
