“WARSAW’S GREAT WEEKEND CELEBRATING THE BICYCLE” IS A FANTASTIC SUCCESS
After the official presentation ceremony on Friday evening for the Tour de Pologne UCI World Tour, “Warsaw’s Great Weekend Celebrating the Bicycle” (Wielki Warszawski Weekend Rowerowy) continued with two important events dedicated to pedal pushers, organized by the Lang Team. Both events took place against the splendid backdrop of the Wilanow Royal Palace.
Fat tyres were the focus on Saturday, May 19th. In fact, the schedule featured the mountain bike race that’s part of the circuit called Vienna Life Lang Team Maratony Rowerowe . More than 1000 bikers lined up for the start of this, the second of six events on the calendar between May and September in as many Polish cities. There were also lots of kids participating in the special challenge organized for them by the Ministry of Sport and Tourism.

Then on Sunday the 20th, on-road cycling took centre stage with the race that’s part of the circuit called Lang Team Race . This is a new, compelling amateur challenge, which kicked off right here from Warsaw. And there in the front row on the starting grid among 500 other cyclists was Czeslaw Lang, ex pro rider, 1980 Moscow Olympic silver medallist and General Director for the Tour de Pologne.

The calendar for the Lang Team Race will feature two more events, in Gdansk on May 26th and then in Bytow on September 9th. This new racing circuit was introduced by the Lang Team following the wave of success enjoyed year after year with the traditional Tauron – Tour de Pologne Amatorow road race, an event that is always held on the last day of the pro race in Bukowina Tatrzanska.
“I’m very pleased with the significant media interest and public attendance I saw surrounding the presentation for the 2018 Tour de Pologne. These two races enjoyed fantastic participation among two wheel fans, which is the best reward of any for the Lang Team and all the hard organizational work that it has been doing with commitment and passion in the sector of cycling events. But above all else, this is tangible proof of how much people love cycling and how the bicycle is always an integral part of the lifestyle of the people here in Poland. Remember that this is a very important year for all of us, because we are celebrating 90 years of the Tour de Pologne in the year of the Centennial of Poland’s Independence,” says Czeslaw Lang.
Furthermore, for the entire weekend the Tour de Pologne Mobile Museum, with its cargo of history, allure and emotion, made a stop in the Wilanow Palace Gardens to welcome throngs of visitors. Follow all the stages of the road show: http://90lattdp.pl/
